Overview

As of 2019, the following POPs listed in Annexes A and B to the Stockholm Convention have industrial uses:

  • Annex A: decabromodiphenyl ether (DecaBDE), hexabromobiphenyl (HBB), hexabromocyclododecane (HBCDD), hexabromodiphenyl ether (HexaBDE) and heptabromodiphenyl ether (HeptaBDE), hexachlorobenzene, hexachlorobutadiene (HCBD), pentachlorobenzene, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB), polychlorinated naphthalenes (PCN), short-chain chlorinated paraffins (SCCP), tetrabromodiphenyl ether (TetraBDE) and pentabromodiphenyl ether (PentaBDE);
  • Annex B: Perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS), its salts and perfluorooctane sulfonyl fluoride (PFOSF).

* Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), its salts and PFOA-related compounds will be listed in Annex A by decision SC-9/12 of 10 May 2019.
