Geneva, Switzerland, 16-19 June 2026

Venue: International Environment House II, 7-9 Chemin de Balexert, CH-1219 Châtelaine

Highlights: The Committee resumed its consideration of all the activities of its work programme for 2026-2027, which include the consideration of submissions and questions relating to Parties’ compliance, as well as the consideration of systemic issues of general compliance and implementation. The activities of the Committee are aimed at improving implementation and compliance with a range of obligations under the Convention, including in relation to the designation of national focal point and official contact points, the transmission of national reports and national implementation plans, the development of national legislation, the elimination or restriction of persistent organic pollutants, and the provision of technical assistance and financial resources.

In addition, the Committee initiated cooperation with the Implementation and Compliance Committee of the Basel Convention and the Compliance Committee of the Rotterdam Convention, including through a joint session on 19 June 2026 with the seventeenth, respectively, fourth meetings of those Committees.

Furthermore, the Committee identified questions of compliance pertaining to the designation by 21 Parties of their country contacts (national focal point and official contact point).

The Committee agreed to convene it third meeting online on 5-9 October 2026 with a view to finalizing the activities of its 2026-2027 work programme and recommendations to the attention of the thirteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties (19-30 April 2027, Panama City, Panama).
