Regional training workshop on new POPs and the process of reviewing and updating NIPs

from 2 to 4 December 2009

The workshop targeteted national experts, from the Mediterranean (outside CEE) and French-speaking African regions, who are contributing to the implementation of the Stockholm Convention, such as Official Contact Points or Focal Points.

Objectives

  • Raise awareness on the 9 new POPs added to Annexes A, B and C of the Stockholm Convention, their properties and uses;
  • Develop a clear understanding on the scope of the obligation to update and review NIPs under Article 7 in light of the recent amendment of Annexes A, B and C of the Convention;
  •  Increase knowledge on the guidance and training tools available for complying with new obligations and assessing participants’ needs for updating NIPs accordingly;
  • Share feedback among the participants on the experience in using the various guidelines and training tools when developing NIPs.
