Ninth meeting of the PCB small intersessional working group

15 to 17 October 2024, Geneva, Switzerland

Highlights: At its eight meeting on July 2023, the PCB small intersessional working group ( PCB SIWG), following Decision SC-11/3 on polychlorinated biphenyls, considered the preparation of:

  1. A revised strategy for Parties to meet the 2025 and 2028 goals of the Stockholm Convention, taking into account the comments received in accordance with paragraph 3 of the present decision;
  2. Revised guidance for the development of inventories of polychlorinated biphenyls and analysis of polychlorinated biphenyls and revised versions of other guidance relevant to polychlorinated biphenyls available under the Stockholm Convention, taking into account the comments received in accordance with paragraph 3 of the present decision;

The PCB SIWG revised the draft documents prepared by the Secretariat considering the inputs of the SIWG members and observers and agreed to proceed with the process for public consultation.

At this meeting, the PCB SIWG will meet to finalize the documents considering comments and inputs form Parties and others for consideration at the next Conference of the Parties.

Moreover, the PCB SIWG will continue to provide expert guidance to the Secretariat on the ongoing activities to enhance Parties capacities to meet the 2025 and 2028 targets on PCB under the Stockholm Convention.
