Highlights: At its Seventh meeting on December 2023, the PCB small intersessional working group ( PCB SIWG), following Decision SC-11/3 on polychlorinated biphenyls, considered the preparation of:
- A report on progress towards the elimination of polychlorinated biphenyls;
- A revised strategy for Parties to meet the 2025 and 2028 goals of the Stockholm Convention, taking into account the comments received in accordance with paragraph 3 of the present decision;
- Revised guidance for the development of inventories of polychlorinated biphenyls and analysis of polychlorinated biphenyls and revised versions of other guidance relevant to polychlorinated biphenyls available under the Stockholm Convention, taking into account the comments received in accordance with paragraph 3 of the present decision;
The PCB SIWG revised the draft documents and agreed on a workplan for the intersessional period between 2024 and 2025.
At this meeting, the PCB SIWG will meet to revise the updated drafts and further provide expert inputs on the work of PCB environmentally sound management to support Parties on meeting the 2025 and 2028 targets on PCB elimination under the Stockholm Convention.
