The Secretariat of the Stockholm Convention collaborates closely with the World Health Organization on all issues pertaining to the production and use of DDT and its alternatives for disease vector control. This mandate is provided specifically in the Convention and is endorsed by the Conference of the Parties in its decisions. Additionally, the Secretariat does link with other interest groups including:
The United Nations Environment Programme (Chemicals Branch); The World Bank; The International POPS Elimination Network (IPEN) and Croplife. Many other organizations from academia, Inter-governmental institutions individual chemical manufacturing corporations and Non-governmental organizations do cooperate with the Secretariat especially in the effort to develop and deploy alternative products, methods and strategies to DDT for disease vector control.
