The annex to the present note contains a guidance document on flame-retardant alternatives to commercial pentabromodiphenyl ether. The guidance document was developed between the third and fourth meetings of the Persistent Organic Pollutants Review Committee. At its fourth meeting, the Committee decided to establish an intersessional working group to develop the document further. The document has been revised by the working group and published on the Stockholm Convention website

A sa troisième réunion, le Comité a suggéré d’inclure dans l’évaluation de la gestion des risques liés au pentabromodiphényléther des orientations sur les solutions de remplacement possibles. Mme Liselott Säll (Norvège) et M. Bo Wahlström (Suède) se sont déclarés disposés à entreprendre l’élaboration de telles orientations.

Le secrétariat a subséquemment confié cette tâche à Mme Säll et à M. Wahlström. Le document résultant est reproduit tel quel dans l’annexe à la présente note, sans avoir été revu par les services de contrôle de la rédaction
