Invitation to submit comments on the draft risk profile on hexachlorobutadiene (HCBD)

The seventh meeting of the Persistent Organic Pollutants Review Committee of the Stockholm Convention took place from 10 to 14 October 2011, in Geneva. The report of the meeting is available in document UNEP/POPS/POPRC.7/19.

The Committee had before it a proposal submitted by the European Union to list hexachlorobutadiene under Annexes A, B, and/or C to the Convention.

In accordance with the procedure laid down in paragraphs 5 and 6 of Article 8 of the Convention, the Committee applied the screening criteria specified in Annex D and decided that the screening criteria were met and that the Committee should proceed with the development of a risk profile for hexachlorobutadiene. The Committee invited Parties and observers to submit information specified in Annex E for hexachlorobutadiene and an intersessional working group prepared a draft risk profile.
