Three expert panels and three task teams agreed at the 3rd Toolkit Expert Meeting on the following workplan for the inter-sessional period from December 2008 to December 2009.
Interested experts are encouraged to participate actively in the Toolkit review and update process and provide their input to the expert panels and task teams via the Secretariat.
Expert Panel on Toolkit Category 3 - Fossil fuel and biomass fuel power plants, household heating and cooking
- Ongoing collection of data;
- Elaborate text of summary (include the table for fossil fuels; first draft for circulation by 23/12/2008);
- Compilation of information on biomass data (end Jan 2009);
- Data check of information provided and provide format to finally assign EFs;
- Compilation of data from charcoal cooking (emissions and ashes).
Expert Panel on Toolkit Category 6 - Open burning of biomass and waste
- Continue EF factor collection;
- Execute the two open burn projects;
- Prepare proposal for new EF open waste burn for discussion at 4th Toolkit meeting.
Expert Panel on Toolkit Category 2 – Metal Industry
The intersessional workplan for this expert panel includes:
- In-depth collection on emission measurement data (esp. Japan, China, …);
- Techniques/processes used in developing countries presently not covered in the Toolkit – collect information;
- Encourage identification of gaps and needs for future projects.
Task team on brick production
- Finalization of report brick kilns ash data from Mexico (EU report);
- Finalization of sampling campaigns on soil and ashes from brick kilns, analysis of samples and writing of report - Kenya, South Africa, Mexico;
- Analysis of emission samples from Mexican brick kilns (operating with different fuels) (EU report);
- Analysis of bricks from Mexican kilns.
Task team on regeneration of the catalyst in the petroleum refinery sector
- New data is available but still scarce.
Task team on preliminary screening of unidentified sources
- Establish simple screening matrix/scheme for identification of new dioxin/furan sources;
- Technical support to screen potential new dioxin sources notified to the Toolkit expert group.
