Overview
The Small Grant Programme is designed to channel bilateral donor funds for implementing the Convention through Stockholm Convention regional and sub-regional centres for capacity-building and the transfer of technology.
In order to achieve a high impact with relatively low resources, the Programme promotes a competitive sense among the Centres providing them with an opportunity to implement discrete activities and projects assisting eligible Parties to meet their obligations under the Stockholm Convention.
The initial funding was made available by the government of Norway under this Programme for the year 2009. Norway has given continuation to the programme by making the funding available for the year 2010 as well. The programme is in the process of becoming open for the regional centres/offices under Basel and Rotterdam Conventions.
The best two proposals that were selected from among those submitted by the regional centres received funding for implementation in 2009. An announcement to call for proposals for the year 2010 has already been made. Interested Centres are invited to submit their project proposals in the template given below to the Secretariat before 31st July 2010.
