Subregional workshop on guidelines for updating of NIPs to address the newly listed POPs
Nagpur, India, 18 - 21 June 2012
The subregional workshop on guidelines for updating of national implementation addressed the newly listed persistent organic pollutants held from 18 to 21 June 2012 at CSIR-NEERI, Stockholm Convention Regional Centre for Asia Nagpur, India. It brought together target national officials of several countries in the Asia Pacific region who are involved in coordinating the review and update of the national implementation plans (NIP), relevant national stakeholders from India and representatives of Stockholm Convention Regional Centers. The workshop was jointly organized by the CSIR-NEERI, the Stockholm Convention regional centre for Asia.

Workshop on Pilot testing of guidelines for updating of NIPs to address the new POPs in Nigeria
Abuja, Nigeria, 7 - 8 March 2012
National Inception Workshop on Pilot testing of guidelines for updating of national implementation plans to address the new persistent organic pollutants in Nigeria was held 7 - 8 March 2012 in Abuja, Nigeria.
The objective of the workshop was to 1) introduce to participants the guidelines for National Implementation Plan (NIP) updating and related training materials and gather their feedback for revision of the guidelines; 2) facilitate project coordination by bringing together the project task teams, national stakeholders and international experts; 3) gather experience and competence, and further facilitate national discussions on updating the NIP to address the new Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) in Nigeria; and 4) conduct preliminary inventory activities for PBDE and management frames of PBDE containing material flows including EEE/WEEE polymers and end-of-life vehicles.
The workshop targeted at the project task teams and relevant national stakeholders in Nigeria.

Regional Capacity Building Workshop for PBDEs Emissions Reduction from E-wastes

On 26 August 2010, the amendments to the Stockholm Convention, listing nine additional persistent organic pollutants, will enter into force. In light of this, the workshop aimed at raising awareness on the steps to be taken by Parties to comply with their new obligations, including the process to review and update their national implementation plans. Furthermore, given that the next reporting deadline under the Convention is set up for 31 October 2010, the workshop was also an opportunity for participants to become familiarized with the reporting requirements and the enhanced version of the electronic reporting system.
