Stockholm Convention Regional Centre in Brazil is hosted by Companhia de Tecnologia de Ambiental do Estado de Sao Paulo (CETESB). Established as a corporation by the initiative of the state government of Sao Paulo in 1973, CETESB today has 56 regional offices and 15 accredited laboratories and approximately 2,000 employees working in the field of industrial environmental management in the state of Sao Paulo. The centre has over 40 years of experience in working in the field of environmental quality control, control of pollution sources, environmental analysis, emergencies, technology transfer and pollution prevention. Further CETESB has been recognized as a reference institution by a number of international bodies. CETESB has been serving as a nominated Stockholm Convention centre since November 2007 and has been endorsed in 2009 as the regional centre for capacity building and technology transfer by COP4 for four years.
