Background

The process for the review and update of the guidelines and guidance on best available techniques and best environmental practices has been initiated by decision SC-6/10 and is conducted by the experts nominated by parties and others through the joint Toolkit and best available techniques and best environmental practices expert roster. By decision SC-7/8 the Conference of the Parties to the Stockholm Convention adopted the workplan of the experts on best available techniques and best environmental practices pertaining to the review and update of the guidelines on best available techniques and best environmental practices relevant to the persistent organic pollutants listed in Annex C and the guidance on best available techniques and best environmental practices relevant to the persistent organic pollutants listed in Annex A or Annex B to the Convention.
