At its fifth meeting, held on 12-16 October 2009, the POPs Review Committee examined the proposal submitted by Norway to list Hexabromocyclododecane under Annexes A, B, and/or C of the Convention. The report of the meeting (document UNEP/POPS/POPRC.5/10) is available here.
In accordance with the procedure laid down in paragraph 5 and 6 of Article 8 of the Convention, the Committee applied the screening criteria specified in Annex D and decided that the screening criteria were met and that the Committee should proceed with the development of a risk profile. The Committee invited Parties and observers to submit information specified in Annex E and the intersessional working group prepared a draft risk profile on HBCD based on the information.
A letter inviting review and submission of technical comments, together with the draft risk profile document were sent from the Secretariat to the Official Contact Points and National Focal Points.
